- Nationality: Indian Citizen.
- Marital Status: Unmarried (for candidates below 25 years of age at the time of commencement of the course). Married candidates above 25 years can apply, but separate accommodation for spouse will not be provided during training.

- Flying Branch: 20 to 24 years (Born between July 2, 2002, and July 1, 2006, both dates inclusive). Upper age limit relaxable to 26 years for candidates holding a valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India).
- Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical) Branch: 20 to 26 years (Born between July 2, 2000, and July 1, 2006, both dates inclusive).
- Educational Qualification: Varies by branch.
- Flying Branch:
- Minimum 50% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2 level, AND
- Graduation (minimum 3-year degree course) in any discipline with at least 60% marks, OR
- BE/B Tech (4-year course) with at least 60% marks, OR
- Cleared Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of
India with a minimum of 60% marks.
- Ground Duty (Technical) Branch (Aeronautical Engineer - Electronics/Mechanical):
- Minimum 50% marks each in Physics and Maths at 10+2 level, AND
- Four-year degree in Engineering/Technology, OR
- Cleared Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of
India or Graduate membership examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers with at least 60% marks.
- Ground Duty (Non-Technical) Branch (Administration, Logistics, Accounts, Education, Weapon Systems, Meteorology):
- Graduation in any discipline with at least 60% marks, OR
- For Accounts: B.Com Degree (minimum 3-year course) or BBA (with specialization in Finance)/BMS (with specialization in Finance)/BBS (with specialization in Finance) with 60% marks or equivalent, or Qualified CA/CMA/CS/CFA.
- For Education: PG Degree in Any Stream with 50% Marks.

Selection Process:
The selection process for AFCAT typically involves the following stages:
- Written Examination (AFCAT): Computer Based Test.
- AFCAT Exam: Consists of 100 questions for 300 marks, with a duration of 2 hours. Subjects include Verbal Ability, Numerical Ability, Reasoning, General Awareness, and Military Aptitude. (1/3rd negative marking for incorrect answers).
- EKT (Engineering Knowledge Test): Only for Ground Duty (Technical) applicants. It consists of 50 questions for 150 marks, with a duration of 45 minutes. Subjects are Mechanical, Computer Science, or Electrical & Electronics.
- AFSB Interview (Air Force Selection Board):
- Stage-I (Screening Test): Officer Intelligence Rating Test and Picture Perception & Discussion Test.
- Stage-II: Psychological Tests, Group Tests, and Interview.
- CPSS/PABT (Computerized Pilot Selection System/Pilot Aptitude Battery Test): For Flying Branch candidates only.
